Aberdeen Park, Highbury
The buyers of this private property in the Aberdeen Park conservation area approached us to re-design the house, add floorspace and form a new open plan family kitchen and living space at ground floor level. The loftspace was converted to provide a new studio room with en suite bathroom, overlooking the garden through a large dormer window. The property was extended to the rear, cutting across the garden at an angle under the extended first floor rear room, forming a covered external terrace and adding dynamism to the rear elevation. Externally the building's appearance was radically transformed by replacing the existing uPVC windows with new grey painted softwood frames with double glazed units to minimise heat losses in the property. Internally, the requirement for low energy lighting in the property was exceeded which will help keep running costs down in the future. LPA also worked closely with the client in designing the bathrooms and internal finishes to their exact specifications.
