Embassy Lodge, Green Lanes

We have now completed in the first phase of works at Embassy Lodge on Green Lanes. This involved the entire conversion of a sixties residential block of 12 flats to new, modern standards and styling and the addition of six flats through the conversion of basement space and the addition of a new crowning storey. In addition to the new storey, the introduction of features such as balconies accessed through large glazed doors, an entrance lobby and the motif of a wooden handrail the building reads as new. The opportunity has been taken to upgrade the original building to out-perform the requirements of the building regulations with regards to conversions. The building needs not only to be responsive to the current and foreseeable rental market but also to its setting within an area of grand historic buildings, the highly cultural locality around Newington Green and Clissold Park and its location along one of London’s main arterial roads. It responds by sitting as a subtle application of modern construction methods which retain the historic quality of building whilst providing a contemporary, yet sympathetic, aesthetic. Traditional and modern materials have been worked together to give this building both texture and identity. It has been very well received by the neighbours.

The project is much more than a facelift. It has delivered a revitalised landmark building which has retained the beauty in simplicity of the original structure within a reprogrammed whole. We have provided our clients with a building representative of their commitment to a robust yet qualitative approach to being a modern landlord and we are continuing to work with them to build on this success through the rest of their portfolio.

On this site the second phase of development, which shall involve the construction of new two storey building to the back of the site and a fully re-landscaped garden in between, shall commence shortly.
