This property began life with LPA as a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO). Divided into several flats and bed-sits over five stories, the property required complete refurbishment and reinstatement of many of the original rooms and proportions to create a family home once more. Tackled in two distinct design approaches, the upper floors of the house were re-designed to reinstate many of the original features and proportions of the house, whilst on the lower ground floor a glazed extension informed the overtly modern design approach to create an open plan kitchen / living / dining space. The entire property was re-lined using an insulated plasterboard which minimises heat losses in the building, beyond the requirements of the Building Regulations and will help to keep running costs down in the future. Whilst the lines and details were kept sleek and minimal downstairs, upstairs a more decorative internal finish was achieved through the use of rich decorations, finishes and lighting.
